Vintage 2012 was mild and cool with one of the earliest start dates to vintage. Yields were low and berries small and concentrated. Cabernet Sauvignon from Cellar Door Old and Cellar Door Paulownia Tree Block and V and A Block were combined to make this wine. Matured for 19 months in new and second fill tight grained French oak from Bossuet, Dargaud and Jaegle, Seguin Moreau and A.P. Johns, this wine was fined and bottled in February 2014.
Deep red colour.
Rich, dark blackberry and mulberry fruit with a touch of liquorice and integrated fine vanillin/leather and spice characters from the oak.
Palate is rich and full, cassis, blackberry and a touch of seaweed with a firm tannin structure on the finish.
This wine will reward careful cellaring.
Maturation was for 19 months in new (47%) and second fill French oak, Bossuet (34%) Dargaud and Jaegle (28%), Seguin Moreau (25%) and A.P. Johns (13%).
Blackberry and mulberry with leather and spice notes.
